MalaMala is one of the largest private game reserves in southern Africa, spanning 130 square kilometers. The reserve shares a 19-kilometer unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park, allowing wildlife to roam freely. A 20-kilometer perennial river cuts through the property, ensuring year-round water supply even during the dry season. Strategically, the lodge is positioned on the west side of the river, ensuring that 95% of MalaMala remains untouched by human activity.
